GUIDANCE & CAREER EDUCATION

Through personal counselling and academic & career counselling, The Canadian Trillium College provides opportunities for students to acquire skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to:

  • Know and appreciate them – evaluate skills, talents, future goals, values.
  • Relate effectively to others in school and at home
  • Develop appropriate educational plans
  • Explore career alternatives

Ⅰ. Personal Counselling

CTC offers the opportunity for personal counselling from either the principal or classroom teachers. It is to be emphasized that our primary goal role in the school is to be of service to our students as they deal with day-to-day concerns and problems as well as plan for the future.

Staffs are available to students throughout the school day if necessary. A student may make an appointment to see the principal or teacher by booking a time. Parents are encouraged to call the school regarding any questions they have about their children’s academic progress or the school program.

II. Academic and Career Counselling

Both group and individual instruction are provided in career awareness. Factors to consider when choosing a career are explained and students are assisted in determining the career opportunities available to them. Current information about careers and job opportunities are available for use by the students.

Postsecondary Education information is provided on an individual and group basis. Group instruction is given to Grade 11 students and reviewed at the beginning of the final year before graduation. Recent calendars and other publications from postsecondary institutions in many different countries are available for student use. For those who attend the summer camp in Ontario offered by Great Lakes College of Toronto, opportunities to visit several Ontario universities will be provided.

Assistance is also given to students to help in preparing for interviews, completing questionnaires and submitting the University and College applications in Ontario.

Information about scholarships and bursaries are available to students. Where possible, scholarship application forms will be collected and made available.
