Founded in 1996, Shanghai Pinghe School (SPS) is a leader in bilingual education, in the vibrant international city of Shanghai, China, the largest city of the world. SPS is a boarding school with full operational and financial independence authorized by its board of directors (Shanghai Jinqiao Group) in Jin Qiao Green International Community, in Pudong District. In September 2002, SPS began offering courses in the International Baccalaureate (IB) with English as the language of instruction. In May 2003, SPS was officially accredited as an International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) school. In 2007, SPS was one of the first schools to receive official approval to directly recruit international students overseas.

At SPS，we educate more than 2500 students in four programs with student-centered education, grounded in a resilient educational philosophy with our mission statement: “Competitive and Successful Life-long Learners Deeply Rooted in traditional Chinese Culture”. SPS encourages creative mindsets and abilities with an aim to pursue high quality teaching in core subjects that enable students to achieve high scores and aptitudes in four programs that are based here with qualified faculty members who work closely with each student to achieve par excellence (from Pudong District Examinations and top TOEFL/SAT scores to outstanding academic performance and high entrance rate) into world’s top colleges and universities. With an ethnically diverse faculty and student body, our educational objective strives to serve the needs of students’ life-long learning. We aim to cultivate well-rounded modern citizens characterized by global mindedness, self-discipline, solid and broad foundational knowledge and skills; sound mind and body, global moral character, individuality, creativity and specialty with Chinese and western cultural exchanges under the same roof.

The curriculum and the management objectives at SPS centre on reducing administrative burden, improving management and strengthening quality monitoring and incentives. Basic knowledge, and the fundamental skills that underpin more advanced learning, are given pride of place, and we endeavour to continually improve the effectiveness of classroom education. Past cohorts of our graduates have distinguished themselves with their performance, in particular highschool graduates , who have secured places at many renowned institutions of higher education around the globe, including Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Northwestern, UC Berkeley, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Institut Francais de la Mode, Cambridge, and Oxford. Over forty percent of our graduates secure scholarships.
